Mysuru: The Anti-Corruption Bureau will open its stations in Kodagu and Karwar by June end.
ACB IGP MA Saleem, who held a meeting with ACB officials of Mysuru Range covering five districts -- Mysuru, Mandya, Chamarajanagara, Hassan and Kodagu -- told TOI that infrastructure has been built in all four districts, except Kodagu. We don't have a police station in Kodagu and an ACB station will soon come up.
Appointments are also being made for Kodagu.
Uttara Kannada is another district that doesn't have an ACB police station. Steps are being taken to set up a station in Karwar along with Kodagu, Saleem said.
Each police station will be headed by an officer of the rank of DySP, and the range will be is supervised by an SP-grade officer.
The ACB has the powers to investigate cases booked under the Prevention of Corruption Act, and has received 224 complaints across Karnataka of which 50% are from Bengaluru, the IGP said. Mysuru range of five districts has received nearly 40 complaints.
Saleem claimed that not all complaints received by ACB are related to corruption. Grievances were related to extortion, a delay in giving information under the RTI and against non-government officials. We have transferred such cases to the departments concerned, he said.
The IGP said he reviewed the progress of investigation into various complaints and also staff allocation and infrastructure at the ACB office in NR Mohalla.
