Honnavar: Like previous year, even this year the 'Sharavati Excellence Award' program was organized by Khaleej Muslim Sharavati Council in Valki in Honnavar taluk to honour meritorious students from various villages coming under Sharavati belt. The program was held on 20th August at Valki in the taluk.

The students who were honoured with Sharavati awards were - Hafiz Hamdan Mumtaz Sukri (Valki), Fariya D/o Fayyaz Hagalwadi (Valki), Ayesha Muskan Fakir Saheb (Upponi), Shazmin D/o Zakaria Shaikh (Honnavar), Mahroof Muzaffar Shaikh (Samsi), Mehek D/o Jamshed Khan (Saralagi), and Ankita Sridhar Bhat ( Honnavar).

The program began with the recitation of Holy Quran by Maviz s/o Mukhtar Fakhri, followed by the naat was sung by Shahzad s/o Shabbir Davalji. Mohiuddin Sukri addressed the welcome note and Ahmed Sukri introduced the guests.

Present as the chief guest in the event, principal of Jamia Islamia Bhatkal, Maulana Maqbool Ahmed Kobatte Nadvi, enlightened the importance of education in the current days.

The program was presided by Sharavati council's vice-president Muhammad Hussaina Samsi.

General secretary Dr Abdullah Sukri presented the annual report of the organization. Maulavi Asaf Samsi was the host of the event.
