Mangaluru: While speaking to reporters on 28th Febraury, Tuesday, state minister for Food and Civil Supplies, U T Khader said that his ‘Chappal’ remark was a mistake and assured that should mistakes wound not recur in the future.
During his meet with the reporters at Circuit house on Tuesday, he said that he was deeply hurt by the incidents in his home constituency and the reaction was a spontaneous result of it. He said that the peace of his home constituency is at risk due to some anti-social elements. He also made clear that he had no intentions of hurting anyone.
Khader said that he did not intend to target any individual or organization but it was not right to call for a bundh in order to oppose the visit of a chief minister to our district. He also added saying, no one had opposed while Pak prime minister visited our nation, but some anti-social organizations resorted to unconstitutional ways to foil the visit of a chief minister.
He further mentioned that even some of his friends, his daughter as well as senior leader Janardhan Poojary opposed his ‘chappal’ remark. He said that giving a bundh call and then resorting to violence is against the constitution. On Janardhan Poojary censuring him, he said, “He is my mentor and has special regards for me”.
He then made it clear that he did not support the CPI(M) and said that it was the responsibility of district to ensure total security to Kerala CM who visited the city.
