'Keep away from bad habits' - officials advise students

Karwar: District Heath and Family Welfare Officer G N Ashokkumar said that it is the responsibility of both teachers and parents to make sure students do not fall prey to bad habits. They have to create awareness among students regarding consequences of bad habits.


speaking during International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking programme at Shivaji Education Institute in Karwar on Wednesday, he said, one in every two houses we are finding drug abused person. These harmful substance make people lose control over their body. So, students should stay away from such substance. He said,age between 16 and 30 are very important as there are every possibility of people falling prey to these habits.


He asked people to control themselves during this age, so that they can lead peaceful life. He called upon people to build a society of morals and free of all bad habits.

CMC Vice President Lalithabai Thanekar said, students have to stay away from bad habits, as it distracts them from studies. Students should realise bad impact of these harmful substances have on their lives. Only then can students stay away from falling prey to them, she said. It is unfortunate that like boys, several girls are also falling for bad habits. Video clippings and photos of such girls are being circulated in the internet. "For sake of habit,don't ruin your life,"she advised youths.

She asked students to inform about sales of such substances to police.

Karwar Medical Science Institute Psychiatrist Mohan Baragur,district jail Superintendent Mahesh Shanbag,Dr Shankar Rao,DDPIPK Prakash were present.
