Kasargod: A sixth standard student died in a hospital in Mangaluru after she collapsed in her school. The incident came to light on 12th September, Tuesday.
The deceased girl has been identified as Aysha Mehennisa (11 yrs) who was studying in sixth standard at a school in Uppala.
According to her parents and relatives, Aysha was subjected to corporal punishment by a teacher two weeks ago for not scoring well in her exam and that is the cause for her demise. However, no complaint was previously lodged by them.
As the exact cause for death is yet to be traced, it is also said that the girl had epilepsy. Hence, her body will be sent for post mortem to Pariyaram Medical College as per the order by the district administration.
A case of unnatural death has been registered and investigations are under due.
