Karwar: Following the absence of proper road connectivity, some youths at Machchalli in the limits of Amadalli Gram Panchayat in Karwar taluk carried an ailing aged woman for seven km to admit her to a hospital on Saturday.

Aged woman Nemigowda, a resident of Machchalli, was suffering from a health problem and she was in need of immediate medical care. However, Machchalli located in the forest area, lacks proper road connectivity.

Hence, no vehicle including an ambulance can reach the village. The villagers have to walk for seven km to reach the National Highway-66, and from there they can get a transport. Following this, the youths carried the woman for seven km and admitted her to the hospital for treatment on Saturday.

Machchalli has just 13 houses around about 60 people. It is difficult to go to the village during the rainy season.

The villagers said, “our village is deprived of basic facilities. However, the elected representatives have not bothered to respond to our woes,” they added.
