Karwar: Third phase vaccination drive from today

Karwar: The third phase Covid vaccination drive would begin from May 11 in Uttara Kannada district. Hence, all people above 18 years and below 44 may get the vaccine, instructed Deputy Commissioner Mullai Mugilan.

In a press release, he said, earlier, the State government had announced to administer the vaccine to people above 18 age group from May 1. However, the vaccination for this age group was postponed due to delay in the supply of the vaccine, he added.

He said, in the third phase, free Covid vaccine would be administered at ten taluk hospitals including at the Karwar Institute of Medical Sciences in the district. Every day, the vaccine would be administered to maximum 150 people. People above 18 and below 44 may register their names and select the vaccination centre online on the following application or website, Aarogya Setu app or www.cowin.gov.in, he informed. 

He instructed that people who register their names online, should bring an identity card and registration details while coming to the vaccination centre for getting the vaccine. There is no facility of on the spot registration at the vaccination centre, he added.  

Minister visits hospital: Meanwhile, District In-charge Minister Shivaram Hebbar visited the taluk government hospital in Joida on Monday for inspecting the facilities made for the patients.

He also held a meeting with taluk-level officials and instructed them to make required arrangements for providing treatment to the Covid patients.
