Karwar: Zilla Panchayat Chief Executive Officer M Priyanga directed all the taluk health officers to deploy drivers for the ambulances given to all the taluks under the MLA Local Area Development Funds at least on a temporary basis.
She noted this while speaking during a meeting on Covid-19 and Pneumococcal Conjugate district-level vaccination drive held in the Zilla Panchayat office in the City on Tuesday.
She said, according to the opinions of experts, the third wave of the Covid is expected to affect the children at large. Hence, as a precautionary measure, necessary preparations should be made to ensure the safety of the children.
Special attention should be given to the health of children, pregnant, and lactating women, she added.
During the vaccination driver, pregnant and lactating women should be given first preference. The officials concerned should video record the vaccination campaigns organised in all the taluks, she directed.
The Health Department should conduct health camps in wards and villages in co-ordination with various other departments. Anganwadi and Asha workers should visit the places where migrants workers live. They should submit a list of beneficiaries within their respective limits and should strive to reach the target by providing details of the camp to the people, she added.
During the health camps, if the doctors identify any children who need higher medical assistance, they should immediately admit such children to their nearby multi-speciality hospitals. The ‘Nagu-Magu’ vehicles should be used to ferry the children, she said.
She then directed the officials concerned to distribute health cards to the physically challenged people in urban areas of the district before October 2.
Medical officers Ramesh Rao and Sharad Nayak, taluk health officers, DDPI, Women & Child Development Department officials were present on the occasion.
