Karwar slips to 5th place in SSLC results

Karwar: Recording 79.85% passing rate, Karwar educational district has slipped to the fifth place in the State in SSLC examination results this year. Its passing rate was 87.98% and position was fourth place last year.

"We expected second place to the State this time. For next SSLC examinations, more care would be taken, and special activities would be conducted to enhance the knowledge of studnets," said Deputy Director of Public Instruction (DDPI) P K Prakash.

A total of 10,285 students including 5,130 boys and 5,157 girls had appeared for SSLC examiniations in the educational district this year. They included 424 repeat candidates also. Examinations were conducted at 37 centres.

Nandini Naik of Nirmala Convent in Kumta and Eshwar Joshi of Pragati Vidyalaya at Murur have secured 624 marks, standing second to the State, and securing top position in the educational dsitrict. Pramatha Bhat of Marthoma Convnet in Honnavar has ecured 623 marks.
