Karwar: Karwar Police have arrested two fraudsters from Delhi who duped a Karwar man of Rs 4.34 lakh by promising job in a company in Dubai.

The accused have been identified as Suryaprakash Singh and Manveet Kaur of Delhi.

On September 15, 2018, the two fraudsters called Jagdeep Govekar, an industrialist of Karwar, and introduced themselves as representatives of Overseas Advisor Pvt Ltd of Delhi. They said that they needed some people to work in their Dubai company and they themselves would facilitate issue of Visa to the prospective employees.

Believing their words, Jagdeep transferred around Rs 4.34 lakh to the bank account of the accused. But when he did not receive the Visa even after four to five months, he asked them to return the money. However, they did not return. This made Jagdeep suspect a foul play and he lodged a complaint with Karwar police.

Investigating the case, the police went to Delhi but could not get traces of the accused. So, the police froze the Rs 80,000 money available in their bank account. Later, the accused realised that they had got trapped in the case and came to the District Court to file an application to get bail. The police arrested them then and produced before the court. The two were sent to judicial custody.
