Karwar: Members of Ambedkar Sene has urged the government to construct an underpass on the National Highway 66 at Devabag.

They also submitted a memorandum to the deputy commissioner in this regard on 18th May, Thursday.

They said that more than 6,000 people are residing in Devabag, Chittakul and surrounding areas.

As heavy good vehicles continuously keep moving on the national highway, people are facing lot of trouble in crossing the busy highway to reach their destinations. If the national highway was further widened, there would be increase in vehicular movement. This would only increase the number of accidents.

They said, accidents were occurring frequently at Devabag area.

As per the police, two persons were killed in different accidents in the last four months. Several people had been injured. Therefore, a survey should be conducted and officials should be asked to construct the underpass.
