Karwar: Following an air strike on terror camps in Pakistan, high alert has been sounded at INS Kadamba Naval Base near Karwar since early hours of Tuesday.
According to sources high alert ‘state-1’ has been announced at the base. The Navy personnel have been conducting thorough check on civilians, who come to the base for work.
Apart from a few selected gates at the base, all the alternative gates have been closed and a large number of security personnel with arms have been deployed at and aroud the base. Warships and aircraft carrier INS Vikramaditya have been set to sail as part of the high alert.
It is said that the Government of Indian has ordered the defence forces to be ready to face any situation. Therefore, the base has been put on high alert.
Captain Shantanu Sharma, Commanding Officer of INS Kadamba Naval Base, said the security has been tightened at the base and many gates have been closed. The civilians who come to the base for work are checked thoroughly.
People celebrate air strike
Meanwhile, people of Uttara Kannada celebrated the IAF’s air strike on terror camps in Pakistan. Students of CVSK run by the Konkan Education Trust in Kumta and people of Sirsi, Bhatkal and Karwar celebrated it by bursting crackers.
