Karwar: A huge tree fell on the busy NH-66 of Binaga in Karwar taluk on 18th July, Tuesday morning, following the heavy rain and the wind in the city. 

The incident led to the breakdown of the traffic movement on the highway. The heavy lashing rain with wind made the tree to uproot and fall on the busy highway. Luckily, no kind of untoward incident was reported. The flow of traffic between Karwar and Goa was stilled due to the incident. The people who regularly move to different parts of the district for their daily work, were seen returning back to their homes.

As the information was received, forest department officials along with police personnel rushed to the spot and began the process of removal of the tree.
