Karwar: In the last 75 years, only 4,600 industrial training institute (ITI) colleges were established. In a year, the Union Government will start at least 20,000 such colleges in the country, said Union Skill Development Minister Ananth Kumar Hegde.

Speaking at a felicitation function at the Zilla Ranga Mandir auditorium in Karwar city on 24th September, Sunday, he said, though many youth have educational certificates, majority of them lack any skills. Therefore, it is a huge task before my ministry to develop skills among the youth.

Nearly 67 per cent people will change their profession in 20 years and they will choose new sectors. To develop skills among such people, the ministry has been coming up with different training programmes, which will help them get jobs in various new sectors.

“We can’t predict what kind of jobs are going to be created in the coming days. But, we should adopt them. We should be ready to adjust with the new sectors,” he said.

Further he said  that these days, the youth may be dreaming big, but they are not putting in efforts to fulfill their dreams.

He further added saying that the Life should not be a lottery ticket. Youth should make efforts to achieve success in their desired fields.

On the occasion, many BJP leaders felicitated the minister. Former MLA Gangadhar Bhat, BJP leaders Rajesh Nayak, Roopali Naik, Nagaraj Joshi and Manoj Bhat were present.
