Bengaluru: The Karnataka High Court granted bail to four persons on Tuesday, June 22, in the Bengaluru riots case that took place in August 2020.

They were arrested under various sections including SC, ST Act, Arms Act, Damaging Property as well as Sections including 395, 143, 144, 145, 435, 436, 447, 448. Advocate P Usman, state president of the Association for the Protection of Civil Rights (APCR) and Advocate Muhammad Niyaz, secretary, went on with good efforts to secure bail for all four.

Muhammad Niyaz said that 12 more people are now in jail, but with the release order of four people on bail on Tuesday, the chances of 12 others getting bail orders have become clear, whose hearings are expected on Friday, June 25.

It may be recalled that in August last year, the mobs that ran amok in the streets of MLA R Akhanda Srinivas Murthy’s nephew Naveen for his alleged defamatory social media post, against the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), after which a violence broke out in KJ Halli & DJ Halli and also the mob then allegedly set fire to the house of the concerned MLA.
