Cow vigilantes attack illegal bufallo supplier in Karkala

Karkala: A man was arrested by Karkala rural police at Jarigekatte Junction in Mundkur village near here, for illegal transport of two buffalos on 21st July, Friday.

The accused identified as Rajesh Valerian, was allegedly beaten up by cow vigilantes. He was then rushed to the hospital, where the arrest was made after his treatment.

Rajesh has been remanded judicial custody by the court and search is on for Sadhu Poojary, who was accompanying him during the transport of the animals. They have been charged under sections 8, 9 and 11 of Karnataka Cow Slaughter Prevention Act and IPC Section 379 (theft).

Meanwhile, the cow vigilantes identified as Sandeep and Ramesh were arrested and are now are out on station bail. They are said to be Bajrang Dal activists. They ares facing charges under IPC Sections 341 (punishment for wrongful restraint), 324 (voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous weapons or means), 323 (punishment for voluntarily causing hurt) read with Section 34 of Indian Penal Code respectively.

The seized two buffaloes have been sent to Neelavara Goshala.
