Kankanady police arrests TamilNadu based 19-year-old Chain Snatcher

Mangaluru: The Kankanady Town police on 19th May, Friday, arrested a 19-year-old girl in connection with a chain snatching case.

The arrested culprit has been identified as Nandini Uma (19), hailing from Madurai of Tamil Nadu.

On 18th May, near Pumpwell circle, while a woman was traveling by bus along with her 18-month-old child, Nandini snatched the chain from the child’s neck and fled the scene. On 19th May, Kankanady Town Police inspector Ravi Naik, sub-inspector Shanker Patali, and team arrested Nandini and recovered the gold chain worth Rs 30,000 from her possession.

Nandini and her team is involved in various crimes and is absconding from Tamil Nadu. She along with her team travels by bus as passengers and snatch chains, they are also involved in pickpocketing. A number of cases have been registered against Nandini in various police stations.

Nandini was produced before the court where she was sent to judicial custody.
