Mangaluru: Former minister Kumar Bangarappa has announced that he would be joining BJP on March 9. Addressing a press conference here, he stated that he has resigned from the primary membership of Congress party.
To this, Janata Dal (Secular) leader and Sorab MLA Madhu Bangarappa on Saturday said that the BJP was the last refuge of the rejected politicians.
Answering to the media about queries made about his elder brother Kumar Bangarappa’s decision to join BJP, Madhu said that only rejected politicians join BJP and also stated that this is a ‘betrayal’ to their father’s vision.
He said that his brother joining BJP would not by any means impact the political scenario. He also added that his elder brother should speak cautiously while denouncing the latter’s alleged utterances against Minister Kagodu Thimmappa.
Kumar Bangarappa had said that he was frustrated at the efforts being made by a number of people including the district in-charge minister of Shivamogga to finish him and the Congress off and that was one of the reasons for his decision.
Madhu said that JD(S) have been blessed by the people in Shivamogga district as three MLAs and Zilla Panchayat president were elected in the district. He further clarified that he won’t leave JD(S) even though he has received an invitation from both Congress as well as BJP. “I will be with the JD(S) that has helped me to grow as a leader,” he added.
Madhu responded to his brother joining the BJP saying, “He is in a national party, I am a member of a regional party.”
