Kawar: The president of Janashakti Vedike, Madhav Naik, on friday submitted a memorandum to District In-charge Minister R V Deshpande demanding to provide bus facility to all tourists destinations in the district from Karwar and to restart the Dandeli-Mangaluru bus service.
“There are many pilgrimage sites in the district like Gokarna, Ulavi, Banavasi and Yana and there is no direct bus connection from the district centre. So many tourists visiting Karwar depended on rented vehicles or they have to take three to four buses to reach the destination,” he claimed.
Facing problems
“For many years, there was a bus facility from Dandeli to Mangalore via Karwar. But it has been discontinued for the last four years. Hence, the people are facing problems to travel Mangaluru,”he said.
“Kumta MLA Sharada Shetty has requested to move the small irrigation sub division from Karwar to her constituency. As the thousand acres of land belong to farmers in Karwar is depended on irrigation sub-division. So it should continue in Karwar itself. If necessary, open another sub division between Kumta, Honnavar or Bhatkal,” Maghav Naik requested.
