Investigation launched after Peacock feathers found in Bhatkal forest raise suspicion

Bhatkal: After recovering the feathers of a peacock in the hillock region of Mundalli in the taluk, the forest officials have suspected that a peacock killing was taken place, following an investigation was launched in this regard.

On Tuesday morning, the passersby near Mundalli church noticed the feathers of peacock fallen and reported it to the forest department. It is suspected that someone in greed of peacock meat might have killed it. According to reports, a large number of peacocks are found usually on hilly areas in Mundalli.

In this regard, the forest officials have launched an investigation. It shall be noted that killing of a national bird i.e peacock is considered as a major crime. Speaking in this regard, ACF Balachandra informed that the matter will be considered strictly, and legal action will be taken against the culprits.
