Sirsi: Minister of State for Electronics and Information Technology Rajeev Chandrasekhar stated that a team of experts would be soon sent to Sirsi to take up a study to solve the internet issues and strengthening the network system in Uttara Kannada district.
He noted this while speaking during a meeting held before the Janashirvada Yatra in Sirsi on Monday.
The minister said that thousands of people from Uttara Kannada district work in various parts of the country and abroad and their families are living in the district. They need an active internet connection to contact and communicate with their families. Hence, measures will be taken to solve internet issues and ensure effective communication, he added.
He said, discussions would be held on setting up a skill development centre in the district to provide training to the youths in their fields of interest.
Meanwhile, leaders from various constituencies put forth their demands of providing necessary basic facilities to the district in front of the Union minister.

Uttara Kannada Chamber of Commerce & Industry President G G Hegde Kadekodi demanded the Union government to start a sports academy in the district and create employment opportunities for the skilled youths to prevent their migration. He also urged for the establishment of AIIMS in Karwar.
Chartered Accountant S G Hegde said, technology parks should be set up in Sirsi and Kumta. TSS Society General Manager Raveesh Hegde demanded to solve the issues being faced by the co-operative societies and reduce the GST rates on processed areca powder.
Puttur MLA Sanjeev Mathandur, Keshav Prasad, BJP district president Venkatesh Nayak and others were present.
