Kundapur: The police arrested two men engaged in transporting PDS rice illegally at Gopadi Road in Koravadi.

Acting on a tip-off, the police along with food inspectors raided and arrested Rama Poojary and Subrahmanya.

During the investigation, the duo revealed that they were purchasing the PDS rice for less price from BPL cardholders and selling it to hotels.

Thirty bags of 50-kg each rice were seized along with Rs 5,500 cash, two mobile phones and a car.
