Karwar: Uttara Kannada excise department officials conducted raids at various places and recovered illegally stored liquor worth `27.9 lakh on Thursday night. Two people were arrested in this regard.

According to officials, they seized 1,150 beer boxes worth `14.8 lakh at Karnataka State B eve r a g e s C o r p o r at i o n Limited outlet in Honnavar town.

They also seized Goan liquor, penny, hooch and many other types of liquor which was stored illegally at various places of the district.

The officials arrested Satish Ankola, who was transporting liquor illegally.

In a total of five cases, the excise department seized liquor worth `27.9 lakh and a car.
