Udupi: IGP (Western Range) Arun Chakravarthy, who conducted an internal inquiry into the suspension of Udupi town police station sub-inspector Ananthapadmanabha, revoked the suspension order and reinstated him in the department.

Ananthapadmanabha was suspended by Udupi Superintendent of Police Nisha James 10 days ago on charges of dereliction of duty. He had failed to inform his superiors about the action taken in a moral policing incident. The IGP, in his order, reinstated Ananthapadmanabha as police sub-inspector at the District Crime Records Bureau (DCRB).

The DCRB operates from the SP’s office in Bannanje.  The inquiry into the alleged lapses in conducting the investigation into the moral policing incident in Bhujanga Park in Udupi by Ananthapadmanabha was completed on Thursday and the order to reinstate him was passed. Ananthapadmanabha was suspended on November 12.

Both MLA Raghupathi Bhat and former minister Pramod Madhwaraj had condemned the suspension.
