Gokarna: Indian Dental Association (IDA) Uttara Kannada branch has bagged the ‘Best Allround Activity’ national award for its social welfare works.

The award was presented to the branch members at a ceremony held in  Indore in Madhya Pradesh recently.

IDA Uttara Kannada branch Secretary Kiran Hulgoor of Mundgod and National Executive member Ramachandra Mallan of Gokarna received the award from IDA National President Deepak Makhijani and Secretary Ashok Doble.

More than 6,000 dentists from across the country were present on the occasion.

IDA Uttara Kannada branch had taken up several social activities like holding dental health awareness camps for school children, conducting free dental check-up camps in various places and holding awareness programmes on oral cancer, ill-effects of tobacco and others in the district and the award was given considering these contributions.

The credit of the award goes to IDA Uttara Kannada branch president Suhas Hegde of Sirsi, secretary Kiran, treasurer Raju Bhat and all office-bearers and members of the branch, stated a press release.
