Honnavar: Following the state government's proposal to draw river Sharavathi’s waters to Bengaluru, a call for Honnavar bandh was given on Wednesday, 10th June by several like-minded organizations, which received a mixed response.

The business establishments in the town are closed since early morning. Heavy police force were deployed in every corner of the town.

The Auto rickshaw and tempo services too have hit in the town as the Unions have expressed their full support in the protest.

A protest rally was taken out from Sharavati circle, which passed through market road, Mastikatte road, and Gersoppa circle before culminating at Tahsildar's office.

Hundreds of people from urban and rural areas had participated in the protest volunteerily. Activists from various organizations joined hands in the protest. Submitting the memorandum to state government through Tahsildar, the protesters urged to withdraw the project.
