Kumta: With heavy rains continue to batter Uttara Kannada district, water logging at several areas have been reported causing tough times for the commuters. 

The movement of traffic on Kumta-Sirsi state highway has been temporarily halted in the backdrop waterlogging at Katgal in Kumta taluq.

With more heavy rains expected to continue for the next five days, Orange alert has been announced in the district by the Meteorological department. Tourists and the public are prohibited from visiting the beaches in the district as a precautionary measure in the wake of heavy rains along the coast.
