Heavy rain lashes Dakshina Kannada

Mangaluru: Heavy rain lashed various parts of Dakshina Kannada district for more than a hour late on Monday evening.

Water puddles on roads, especially national highway and flyovers, inconvenienced motorists and pedestrians alike.

When the skies opened up suddenly in the evening, citizens were caught unawares.

In the last 24 hours (ending at 8 am on Monday), the district received an average of 19 mm rainfall.

Dakshina Kannada district has received a total of 3,293 mm rainfall since January this year. A total of 757 houses were damaged in the district since April. Karkala, Hebri, Muniyalu, Ajekar and Shivapura also experienced rainfall.

Karnataka State Natural Disaster Monitoring Centre in its tweet has predicted widespread very light to moderate rainfall with isolated heavy rain likely over South Interior Karnataka districts and widespread very light to moderate rainfall likely over North Interior Karnataka, Coastal Karnataka and Malnad districts.
