Bhatkal: Traffic on the National Highway 66 was disrupted for nearly six hour following a massive landslide at Ottinene in Byndoor near here on 7th June, Wednesday morning.

The landslide occured after heavy rain lashed in the early hours.

Vehicles from both sides were stranded as the road was completely blocked when the hillock slipped blocking the road at around 4 am. Immediately after the incident, the Officials arranged for earthmover machines to clear the mass of soil from the road. By around 9 am, officials made arrangements for at least one way traffic and later the soil was cleared completely.

The widening works for the four lane of NH-66 are going on in the area. The soil had become loose due to rain and resulted in landslide.
