Haliyal: Sharada Sunil Naik (29), sanitary inspector of Haliyal Town Municipal Council, died in an accident near Tumakuru in the wee hours of Wednesday.

According to police sources, Sharada and her husband Sunil were on their way to Tirupati for darshan, when their car rammed a truck near Tumakuru. In the incident, she died on the spot and her husband, who sustained injuries, is being treated at a nearby hospital.

She leaves behind a son aged 10 and Sunil. Minister R V Deshpande, MLC S L Ghotnekar and staff of the Town Municipal Council mourned her death.
