Karwar: Deputy Commissioner S S Nakul advised students to process language proficiency, along with good communication skills, to get jobs in the present competitive era.
Speaking at the 102nd birthday celebrations of D Devaraj Urs organised at District Rangamandir, he said, students have all competitions with hard work by adopting new technologies.
Municipal Vice-President Leelabai Thanekar said, Devaraj Urs was a pioneer of academic and socio-economic development in State. He brought up backward classes to mainstream and made the weaker sections to find financial independence, she added. Delivering a special lecture, Mallikarjun PU College Lecture G D Manoj said Urs was a true politician of Karnataka.
He was the visionary as many of his projects, which were implemented during his tenure, are still relevant today. Urs always stood for minorities, the deprived and other weaker sections of society, he pointed.
Certificated and cash prizes were distributed to 2016-17 SSLC and PUC meritorious students, who stayed in the hostels belonging Backward Classes Welfare Department.
Zilla Panchayat Chief Executive Officer L Chandrashekar Nayak, Probationary IAS Officer K Anand, Assistant Commissioner Shivanand Karale, District Officer of Backward Classes Welfare Department Basavaraj Badiger and others were present.
