Honnavar: Police raided a garment factory located at Kudbail in Haladipur village in Honnavar taluk recently for manufacturing garments with blatant reproduction of popular clothing brands and seized illegally manufactured garments worth Rs 52 lakh.

As per a complaint lodged by Aditya Birla Fashions & Retails company of Bengaluru with Honnavar police, Jeevan Garments used to stitch garments and attach logos of noted brands on the readymade garments. Acting on the complaint, police raided the garment manufacturing unit and sealed it.

"Aditya Birla Retails company had complained that the garment factory of Honnavar which manufactured garments illegally under the brand name of Allen Solly, Louis Philippe, Van Heusen etc violated their company rights. So, case has been registered against Jeevan Garments owner on charges of fraud and trademark infringement.

A team of police led by CPI Cheluvaraju and PSI Santosh Kaikini carried out the raid under the direction of DySP Valentine D'Souza.
