Baindoor: The state cabinet has approved a proposal of Rs 12 crore to rebuild the Gangolli fisheries jetty. Already, Rs 4 crore has been released for the commencement of the work, said Minister for Fisheries and Inland Transport Kota Srinivas Poojary.
He said the quality of the work will be verified frequently and inspected the collapsed jetty and breakwater work at Gangolli. He said that Rs 1.30 crore has been sanctioned for the construction of auction yard at the port. The tender process has been completed. The blueprint of the rebuilding of the jetty and auction yard should be published in the port area for the information of the public.
Fishermen leaders expressed displeasure at the collapse of the breakwater that was constructed recently.
The retaining wall of the jetty and breakwater should be constructed at the earliest, they demanded.
The minister also promised to look into the demand of removing silt at the estuary and jetty area.
