Forest officials filed a complaint against tourists in Joida

Joida: Forest officials filed a complaint against seven tourists for misbehaving under the influence of alcohol in the forest in Kumbarwada limits coming under Kali Tiger Reserve (KTR) in Joida taluk, on Wednesday.

In a counter-complaint, the tourists also filed a police complaint against RFO Prabhuraj Patil and four forest staff alleging of assaulted them. A case in this connection has been registered with Joida police.

The case has been registered against the seven tourists. The tourists were making merry near the Kiravatti bridge on Tuesday. On receiving information, the forest staff rushed to the spot and warned them against entering the restricted forest range. But the tourists raised an objection and this resulted in a verbal clash.

The forest officials then got them to the RFO office in Kumbarwada for enquiry. But some local leaders gathered with hundreds of villagers in front of the office and staged dharna till 10:30 pm. Some miscreants even pelted stones at the office.

Kumbarwada ACF Shivanand Todkar said the accused were having non-veg food and alcoholic drinks in forest coming under KTR. They also lit a fire there. So, the forest officials brought them to the office. But the tourists misbehaved with the officer.
