Mangaluru: Five people from Dakshina Kannada district were among the several Indians who were airlifted from the crisis-hit Afghanistan, by an Indian Air Force aircraft.

Those from Dakshina Kannada district who returned home safely are Dinesh Rai from Bajpe, Jagadish Poojari from Moodbidri, Desmond Davis D’Souza from Kinnigoli, Prasad Anand from Ullal and Shravan Anchan from Bejai.

Meanwhile, Jesuit priest from Mangaluru Fr Jerome Sequeira and Sisters of Charity’s Sister Theresa Crasta from Kasargod are yet to be airlifted and are said to be at the Kabul Airport, officials said.
