Fishing boat capsized near Kunda island in Bhatkal, 5 fishermen rescued

Bhatkal: A mechanised fishing boat capsized in the Arabian Sea near Kunda island off the Bhatkal coast in Uttara Kannada on Sunday, while all the five fishermen were rescued.

According to Coastal security police,  the boat named Shri Laxmi Venkatesh belonged to Raghavendra Kharvi from Bhatkal Karikal was also in the boat with fishermen  Chetan, Kharvi, Udaykumar Kharvi, Shaniyaar Moger and Subramanya. He said that all fiserhmen were rescued with the help of other boats in the sea.

It is said that the boat began to sink soon after the technical snag in deep sea during fishing. The crew members immediately informed  nearby boats, two fishing boats which were near rushed to the spot and rescued all five fishermen.

The capsized boat was dragged to the shore of  Bhatkal bunder with the help of other boats later.
