Bhatkal: A 35-year-old man drowned after being swept into the sea by a powerful wave while fishing off Hadin beach near Belke in Bhatkal taluk.

The deceased was identified as Suresh Naik, a resident of Sannaiyanhitlu in Hadin. He went missing while fishing with a hand net after a wave swept him into the sea.

His body was recovered from Hadin beach.

Vasudev Naik, 50, the deceased’s brother, lodged a complaint at the Bhatkal Rural Police Station.
