Bhatkal: The first convoy of stranded people of Bhatkal and surrounding regions from Dubai, reached hometown safely via Mangaluru International airport in an Spicejet operated chartered flight hired by the Bhatkali businessman and chairman of Nuha General Trading, Dubai, Mr. Ateequr Rahman Muniri, on Saturday early morning.
In the first batch, a group of 184 people reached Bhatkal from Dubai.
All the passengers were bundled into five buses which were engaged by Bhatkali Jamaatul Muslimeen, Mangaluru, to take them to Bhatkal. The chartered flight booked by a Majlise Islah Wa Tanzeem Vice-President Ateequr Rahman Muniri departed from the Ras Al Khaimah International Airport on Friday at 11.20 PM and reached Mangaluru International airport on Saturday 4.20 AM. Bhatkali Jamaatul Muslimeen in Mangaluru also had arranged breakfast for the passengers.
Soon after as the convoy of Dubai returnees in five buses entered Bhatkal, they were taken to the allocated quarantine centres at Anjuman hostel, Hotel Kola Paradise, and Nilawar Palace.
The quarantine centres were well arranged by the Bhatkal's NGO Majlise Islah Wa Tanzeem.
Throat swabs of the passengers will be sent for testing and they will be sent home after seven days if tested negative for the infection.
