Finally, flyover opened for traffic in Kundapur

KundapuraThe flyover at Shastri Circle in Kundapur on National Highway-NH 66 was thrown open for traffic as works were completed.

The work on the flyover was moving at a snail’s pace for the last many years. The slow pace had earned the wrath of the public.

Many letters were written to officials and also to Prime Minister’s office. Dozens of videos on the flyover were uploaded on YouTube to highlight the slow pace.

The work had began on September 5, 2010. The project was taken up on a build, operate and transfer basis.

On April 21, 2018 the work on electrification and underground drainage system was approved.

Owing to the delay in completing work, people faced inconveniences.

In fact, the flyover issue was discussed regularly at town municipal council, taluk panchayat and zilla panchayat meetings.

The public have welcomed the opening of the flyover.

Heddari Horata Samithi’s B Kishore Kumar and Rajesh Kaveri said, “It is good that the flyover has been opened. The pending works should be completed at the earliest. We have already submitted a memorandum to the Assistant Commissioner of Kundapur in this regard.”

Pending works

Speaking to reporters, Kundapur Assistant Commissioner Raju K said that pending works like service roads and placing of railings will be completed by Navyug Construction Company at the earliest.
