Karwar: Karwar police took a father and son to custody while they were attempting to sell fake gold and dupe people in Karwar recently. Two kilograms of fake gold was also recovered from them.

The accused were identified as Harilal (62) and his son Pannalal (36). They used to introduce themselves as natives of Gandhinagar in Gujarat and farmers by profession. They used to tell people that they had got a treasure while digging their field. They were need of money and so, they were selling it at a lesser price. While convincing people, they would show pure gold and then give fake gold to them. However, a resident of Green Street who grew suspicious about them gave information about them to the police. The police swung into action and arrested the duo.

The police found no identity card with the accused and are further investigating the case.
