Ankola: A father allegedly killed his son by smashing his head with a stone over a pity issue at their house at Harawad village in Ankola taluk on Sunday night.

According to sources, the son identified as Vinod Harikantra (21) was killed by his father Pandurang Harikantra over a monetary issue. Pandurang would allegedly ask money from Vinod to run family, but Vinod was not ready to do so. On Sunday night, Pandurang picked up a quarrel with Vinod when the latter was sleeping in the house and smashed his head with a stone. His wife and other three children were in the hall when the incident took place.

After the incident, the villagers gathered and took Vinod to a hospital in Ankola, but sadly the doctor declared him brought dead.

The Ankola police have registered a case and arrested Pandurang.
