Bhatkal: An 82-year-old man who had suffered a snake bite while picking arecanut from a plantation and was undergoing treatment at A J Hospital in Mangaluru succumbed recently.
Manjunath Krishna Hegde, a farmer of Mullegadde in Kotkhanda of Marukeri, was collecting arecanut when a poisonous snake bit him. He was taken to the hospital but he failed to respond to the treatment and died. Rural police have registered. The deceased is survived by wife, a daughter and three sons including Krishnamurthy Hegde who is the unit officer in Bhatkal Home Guards, notary and lawyer Nagaraj Hegde and social worker Ganapathi Hegde.
