Ankola: The executive meet of North Kanara Muslim United Forum chaired by president Imtiyaz Umar Shaikh, held here at Ankola on 3rd March, Sunday.
The tenure of the current executive committee is likely to get completed on 26th March 2019, following the decision was taken that a period of six months to be extended for the elections, which will be conducted to elect the new office bearers. Former president of Forum and a senior leader Basti Muhammmed Malik of Kumta has been appointed as the election commissioner, while Nazeer Shaikh of Karwar and Iqbal Khan of Dandeli has been appointed as Assistant election commissioners.
It was also decided to make amendments in the Forum's bylaws to keep the organization processing actively.
Batting an eye over the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections, members in the meeting expressed their views. The opinions desked in the meeting included the negligence of Congress party towards the active members, which is resulting in its members to join BJP. The Muslims of the district have been given no value by the coalition government. The Forum has brought up many social workers from the last 18 years, and have also acted upon improving the educational and solving social problems of Muslims in the district.
On this occasion, Forum's general secretary Muhammad Mohsin Quazi, Vice president Usman Tadkod, Shaikh Ali Saleha, Abdul Kareem Shaikh, Ibrahim Saheb, Hussain Saheb, Abusaleha Mulla, Ali Shah, Akbar Mulla, Amjad Shaikh and others were present.
