Karwar: Deputy Commissioner K Harish Kumar has opined that as there is a need for creating a sense of patriotism among the youth of the present generation, ex-servicemen should organise various activities for the students of schools and colleges.
He noted this while speaking during a meeting of District Soldiers Board held in the City on Tuesday.
The deputy commissioner said, creating awareness about the nation, national integrity and introducing freedom fighters to youngsters should not be restricted during national festivals like Independence Day and Republic Day. However, constant efforts should be made to inculcate patriotism among the students, he added.
Apart from people serving in different fields, if the soldiers and ex-servicemen interact with the youngsters, it would make a huge impact on them, he opined.
Meanwhile, he directed the Soldiers Welfare and Rehabilitation Department Deputy Director Induprabha to initiate appropriate measures for providing medical students and land distribution to ex-servicemen in the district and their dependants.
Additional Superintendent of Police Gopal Byakod, Municipal Commissioner S Yogishwar, Kadamba Naval Base officials, and others were present in the meeting.
