"Ensure safety on National Highway" - Officals to IRB

Karwar: District In-charge Minister R V Deshpande instructed officals to ensure that landslide tragedy at Tandrakuli in Kumta taluk should not be repeated.


He stated, "Officals should take precautionery measures to prevent such incident from re-occurring and take adequate measures for safety of people residing along National Highway-66".


He was speaking at a meeting held to review rainfall and sowing situation and measures taken to tackle natural calamitity, at the deputy comissioner's office here on Monday, 11th July.


IRB company was transporting excess load than it was permitted. The company had permission to load 20 ton of materials in each truck. But it was carrying more than 40 ton .


Deputy Comissioner SS Nakul said, IRB and NHAI officials were giving evasive answers when asked about safety measures.


Zilla Panchayat president Jayashri Moger,vice-president Santosh Renake and others were present.
