Bhatkal: An eminent social personality of Uttara Kannada district, well known physician and a former President of North Kanara Muslim United Forum, Dr. Nazeer Ahmed Khan passed away at Dandeli today. He was 92 years old.

Apart from being a very popular physician, Dr. Nazeer Ahmed was always actively concerned for the welfare of the Muslims of the district.  He was associated with various social organizations and was instrumental in setting up of the North Kanara Muslim United Forum under the late Mr. Umar Shaikh.

In addition to being a founder member of the forum, he also served as President of the forum for a term.  He was a well-mannered, highly polite and leading person. He was one of the intellectuals of the district.

The last rites will be conducted at around 9 PM. He is survived by a wife, a son and two daughters. 

On his sad demise, many social workers of Uttara Kannada district including President of North Kanara Muslim United Forum Imtiyaz Sheikh, General Secretary Mohsin Quazi, Basti Malik Saheb Kumta, Sheikh Ali Ankola, Syed Mohiddin Barmawar Bhatkal, Dr. Muhammad Hanif Shabab Bhatkal, Yahya Damudi Bhatkal and others paid their last respects to him.
