Mumbai: Eight people have died after a medical store caught fire in Andheri West in Mumbai on Thursday. One person who sustained burn injuries is critical and is being treated at the hospital. The fire erupted at around 6 am on Thursday at Wafa medical store at wireless road in Andheri West.
The fire has been doused. The families of the victims were staying on the first floor and second floor of the premises, DCP Ashok Dudhe, Mumbai Police Spokesperson said.
According to a fire brigade official, a cylinder kept in the medical store is suspected to have exploded resulting in the fire.
However, the exact cause of the blaze would be ascertained after a proper inquiry.
“Our fire brigade team received a call at 6.15 AM and we rushed three fire tenders, one water tanker and two ambulances to the spot,” the official said.
