Bhatkal: Misusing young people for vested interests can ultimately destroy not only individuals but entire communities, prominent Islamic scholar Maulana Abdul Aleem Khateeb Nadvi said while delivering the Eid-ul-Adha sermon at Bhatkal’s historic Jamia Masjid on Thursday.
Addressing thousands of worshippers after leading the Eid prayers at 7 a.m., the cleric warned against exploiting the emotions, energy and capabilities of youth for personal, political or social gains.
Following the Arabic sermon, he said the younger generation represents the community’s greatest asset and responsibility. “Those who manipulate youth for their own interests and misuse their emotions, talents and strength are endangering the future of society,” he said.
Emphasising the importance of proper guidance and moral upbringing, Maulana Abdul Aleem said the progress and stability of any nation or community largely depends on how its youth are nurtured and directed. He noted that young people can contribute significantly to education, social service, communal harmony and nation-building if their energies are channelled positively.
He further said that keeping youth connected with responsible elders, scholars and community leadership was essential to safeguarding society from unrest and moral decline. “If the youth move away from the guidance of responsible people, the entire community may face destruction,” he cautioned.
In view of the intense heat and intermittent rainfall in Bhatkal over the past several days, Eid-ul-Adha prayers were held at various Juma mosques across the town this year.
At Khalifa Jamia Masjid, prayers were led by Maulana Shakeeb Shabandari Nadvi, while Maulana Niamatullah Askiri Nadvi led the congregation at Makhdoom Colony Jamia Masjid. Maulana Ansar Khateeb Madani led prayers at Nawayath Colony Tanzeem Jamia Masjid, and Maulana Ameen Ruknuddin Nadvi led the Eid congregation at Noor Masjid.
Thousands of devotees gathered at Jamia mosques across the town to offer Eid prayers before performing ritual animal sacrifices.
Tight police security arrangements were made across the town to ensure peaceful Eid celebrations.
