Mangaluru: In a ghastly accident, a parked auto rickshaw in a stand was hit by a speedy car, causing the death of one person and severely injuring three others, that happened on the late night of 6th August, Sunday.

The deceased has been identified as Praveen, an auto driver by profession who was standing near his auto during the incident. Immediately after the accident, Praveen including other three injured were taken to a private hospital in the city. Sadly, Praveen who had received series of injuries in the incident breathed his last in the hospital on 7th August, Monday morning, while others are undergoing the treatment.

An eyewitness said that the speedy car which lost the control came from Bunts hostel road with negligence in driving and went on colliding straight into the nearby rickshaw stand located at Jyothi circle. The impact of the collision was such that Auto rickshaw was completely damaged and the group of drivers who were standing at the stand were hurt grievously.

The car driver was taken into police custody, while other members who were in the car fled the scene. The main reason behind this tragedy is to be drunk driving as the driver was intoxicated by alcohol.

A case has been registered in Kadri police station and investigations are on.
