Karwar: "The Karnataka State Road Development Coporation has sanctioned Rs 250 crore for construction of bridges across Kali and Aghanashini rivers. The tender for the same would be invited soon", stated District In-charge Minister R V Deshpande.
He announced this while speaking after releasing a booklet 'Footprints of four year achievement in Uttar Kannada' at deputy commissoner's office in Karwar on Monday, 10th July.
Apart from this, Rs 300 crore is sanctioned from Tourism Department. Land Army has taken up the project of improving facilities at tourists spot, but works are going at snail's pace.
The matter has been brought to the notice of Tourism Minister Priyank Kharge and measures would be taken to step up, he further said.
In last four years,the district has bagged Rs 5,609 crore for developmental activities. In addition, social security schemes to eliminate poverty and give poor dignified life has also been launched by goverment, he added.
After Andhra, Karnataka is second State which is developing at faster rate. An airstrip would be coming up at Kumta, and Dharwad-Dandeli passenger train would start soon. Also Rs 64 lakh has been earmarked for development of rehabilitation centres at Kadra, Ganeshgudi, Ramnagar and Gerusoppa, he said.
